Archbishop Dunn's Letters/Videos to the Faithful

There is ever-growing concern for how euthanasia, or medical assistance in dying (MAiD), is evolving across Canada. As Catholics how do we respond?  Archbishop Dunn encourages the faithful to educate themselves on the issue and our Catholic teaching on the dignity of life.  Last week Archbishop Dunn released a letter to the faithful that expressed his concern about MAiD and offers some resources. You can read the full letter here or pdf.

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ:

As we approach Truth and Reconciliation Day and Nova Scotia Treaty Day, I am reminded of the dire need to support our Indigenous brothers and sisters.

Dear Mi’kmaw Chiefs of Nova Scotia:

Since my installation as the Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth in November of 2020 I made it a priority to renew and strength the relationship between the local Church and the Mi’kmaq communities within the boundaries of the Archdiocese. Over the past three years my efforts to do this have been challenged by the limitations and restrictions placed on all of us regarding the global pandemic.

As the uncontrolled forest fire in Upper Tantallon and surrounding areas we keep burning, Archbishop Dunn invites all the faithful to join him prayer for all who have been impacted. We are particularly mindful of the fire fighters and first responders. As news of the devastating effects of the fire are surfacing we pray in a particular way for those who have lost their homes.
